Summary: Neopentecostalism is a phenomenon that has become not only a religious power, but also an economic, media, electoral and cultural power. Its main characteristic is Prosperity Theology and through this research it was possible to verify that this religious thought has no determinant link with the Bible. Through the categories of historical and dialectical materialism, it was observed that such a conception is not just another Christian aspect, but a religious version of neoliberalism. Prosperity Theology subverts the historical thinking of Christianity, which understands the trinomial faith / works / love as a mean to reach God (Who is himself love as well). In neoliberal religion, God is turned into a mean, to reach another very specific aim — which is wealth.

Key-words: Health and Wealth Gospel, Neo-Pentecostalism, Christianity, Historical materialism, Dialectical materialism.
