Summary: This research thematizes the Rorthyan critic on the concept of redemptive truth and its authoritarian unfoldings. More specifically, it refers to the authors self-proclaimed filiation with the north-american school of pragmatism, highlighting Dewey and James, to demonstrate the potential issues brought up by the metaphysical bradshaw of the platonic tradition and its consequences in a democratic political regime. In this sense, this article intends to exhibit the relation between Rortys neopragmatism and the classic pragmatic school, demonstrating the authors position in favor of this school of thought, in which he moves forward on themes and theses in favor of democracy.
